On Monday the
26th of February, Rapture submitted further evidence
to Ofcom, the UK's telecom and broadcasting regulator,
concerning the treatment that both Power TV Limited
and Rapture Television PLC has received from the
BSkyB Group.
BSkyB has been
reported as claiming it always treats everyone
in a 'Fair Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory '
manner as required by law. The evidence available
to download (on the right) tells a different story.
Rapture TV maintains
that BSkyB uses techniques and practices to bully
and force other channel operators into accepting
unfair and anti-competitive agreements in order
to broadcast an independent channel on satellite
and be receivable on a Sky set top box. The files
show examples of how BSkyB treated Rapture TV.
When BSkyB claims it always treats everyone in
a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory manner
they are not being truthful.
David Henry,
Managing Director of Rapture, said "Rapture
has submitted further evidence to Ofcom concerning
the treatment that both Power TV Limited and Rapture
Television PLC has received from the BSkyB Group.
This treatment has some bearing on the currently
highly publicized dispute with the UK's leading
cable operator Virgin Media. BSkyB has been reported
as claiming it always treats everyone in a 'Fair
Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory ' manner as
required by law. Virgin Media is being bullied
by BSkyB and the UK needs at least two seperate
strong television/media companies, not one".
